LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WKYT) — More Kentucky counties are seeing higher unemployment rates compared to last year, with new data showing increases across nearly the entire state.
According to the Kentucky Center for Statistics, unemployment rates rose in 116 counties in June compared to the same month in 2025.
The gap between Kentucky’s strongest and weakest job markets remains wide.
Woodford County reported the lowest unemployment rate in the state at 4.5%, followed by Cumberland County at 4.6%.
At the other end of the spectrum, Martin County had Kentucky’s highest unemployment rate at 10.6%.
Louisville’s unemployment rate came in at about 5.2%, higher than the national average of roughly 4.4%.
The numbers highlight how employment conditions continue to vary across Kentucky, with some communities facing much higher unemployment rates than others.
