LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A new nautical-themed bar is now open in Louisville's Butchertown neighborhood.
YachtSea opened Wednesday on North Wenzel Street, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
The 1,300-square-foot bar offers nautical-themed cocktails, hot dogs and oysters. It also features pinball machines and a patio.
J.C. Denison, who co-owns The Merryweather bar in Germantown, opened the bar with co-owner Leslee Macpherson, former director of operations at Holly Hill in Lexington, Kentucky.
Denison told LBF last March the bar's concept was an idea he had been brewing for a while.
“It’s just something I’ve had in the back of my mind for a while, having visited a few places like the Sunken Harbor Club in New York. Then my partner Leslee and I have both been separately to a place called Sea Wolf on Tybee Island.
“I’m very interested in nautical things, and she and I are both way into the game Yahtzee," he said. "So, it kind of seemed like the perfect project to tie those two things together. We’re doing a lot of dice-related things. We’ll have nautical-themed cocktails and décor and things like that.”
YachtSea is located at 111 N. Wenzel St. and will be open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., with the kitchen open until 11 p.m.
