LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- One of Louisvilleās largest family companies and its longtime CEO have quietly parted ways.
Scott Shoenberger is no longer with the Al J. Schneider Co., whose assets include Louisvilleās largest hotel, the Galt House.
Shoenberger confirmed his recent departure from the company to WDRB News. He declined to comment further. Orson Oliver, the general counsel of the Al J. Schneider Co., said the company doesnāt comment on personnel matters.
Besides the Galt House ā a fixture of downtown with its 1,300 rooms ā the Schneider Co. owns the Waterfront Plaza and Riverfront Plaza office towers, the Embassy Suites hotel downtown and the Crowne Plaza hotel near Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.
It is owned by the descendants of the late Louisville developer Al J. Schneider.
Shoenberger, a veteran of the hospitality industry, joined the company in 2014 as part of a plan to āprofessionalizeā its management, as he described in a 2018 deposition.
At that time, the company had been led by one of Al J. Schneiderās six children, Mary Moseley, since Schneiderās death in 2001.
Shoenberger, who is not a member of the family, became CEO in 2016 when Moseley was ousted amid a contentious dispute over the future of the company.
The family ultimately settled the seven-year feud in 2023 with Moseley and her sister, Dawn Hitron, selling their stakes in the firm.
The company employs about 500 people, AJS board chairman David Oetken told WDRB News in 2023.
Josh Zik, the Schneider Co.ās chief financial officer, is serving as an interim chief executive, Oliver said.
