LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Westmoreland Pharmacy + Compounding, which has three locations in southern Indiana, announced Tuesday it will close two of them to consolidate its business.
In a Facebook post, the owner, Anthony Westmoreland, said their Jeffersonville and Sellersburg stores will permanently close this week. And the commercial prescription business at the New Albany location will end Feb. 5.
"I could give you a multitude of reasons for this change," Westmoreland wrote. "Suffice it to say that insurance company reimbursement - which is oftentimes below our cost - drove this decision. And like many of our independent pharmacy friends across the country that are closing their doors, we too must deal with the fact that this part of our business is no longer tenable."
Westmoreland said the compounding business, which will remain out of the New Albany location, will continue serving southern Indiana residents.
"So, while we are disappointed that we will no longer fill regular prescriptions, we are excited to continue by focusing on compounds that can uniquely help patients live a better life," he wrote. "We also trust in Kroger Health to care for your non-compound needs."
All regular Westmoreland prescriptions will be transferred to the nearby Kroger pharmacy locations in Sellersburg, Jeffersonville and New Albany.
