LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Vermont-based distillery is offering up a new taste in Louisville.
WhistlePig's new The Vault tasting room opened to the public on Friday, Dec. 5, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.
The 5,000-square-foot space with a 30-foot ceiling is located inside the former German Security Bank on East Market Street, which was built in 1911. At the time, the bank was home to the largest vault in the state and the largest outside of New York City, LBF reported.
Tasting experiences inside The Vault are by appointment only. Outside of the vault, guests can book tastings or sit at the bar and order cocktails that range in price from $15 to $22. There's also a retail space available. A tasting room is also available upstairs, which can be booked online. Walk-ins for the tasting room are welcome if space is available.
WhistlePig is based out of Shoreham, Vermont. Until now, the distillery only had a 500-square-foot space in its home state.
"It's a cool way that we're able to touch base with our customers. Right now, we just don't have that option in Vermont," Meghan Ireland, chief blender at WhistlePig, told LBF. "I'm really excited for that aspect of it: to be able to have a spot that people can come and enjoy the product and learn more about it.Â
The Vault will be open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
More information and booking can be found on The Vault's website, which is expected to go live next week.
