LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Lunch is off the menu at Vincenzo's Italian restaurant this summer, according to our partners at Louisville Business First.

The restaurant, located at 150 S. Fifth St. in downtown Louisville, posted a notice on its door this week saying that its lunch service would be temporarily paused.

According to the sign, dinner service will still continue.

A letter signed by brothers and co-owners Vincenzo and Agostino Gabriele thanked customers for their loyalty and let them know the suspension will help their restaurant "refresh, get creative and come back stronger," LBF reported.

The Gabrieles did not indicate any other reason for the change.

The suspension comes on the heels of uncertainty for the restaurant after local developer Poe Cos. signed a letter of intent to purchase the Humana building and nearby land, which includes Vincenzo's.

Vincenzo Gabriele said in an interview with LBF in March that they are unaware of what the purchase means for the restaurant's future, but they have a "great relationship with Humana" and "want to be part of that growth."

In addition, downtown Louisville continues to struggle with increased elevated office vacancies as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which cuts into lunch-hour foot traffic throughout the central business district.

The lunch suspension will not affect pre-planned private events, and Vincenzo's plans to resume weekday lunches the Tuesday after Labor Day.

When services return, the owners said in their letter they have plans to revamp the lunch menu with "inventive" sandwiches, pasta dishes and new entrees.
