LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Drivers on Muhammad Ali Boulevard at 7th and 8th streets will now need to stop at signs instead of lights.Â
The traffic signals at both intersections were switched to flashing red Thursday before being replaced entirely with stop signs, creating new two-way stops.
Signs have been posted nearby to warn drivers about the changes and remind them to slow down.
The city is testing stop signs at three intersections as part of a plan to eventually convert Muhammad Ali Boulevard and Chestnut Street into two-way streets. After 90 days, crews will evaluate which works better: stop signs or traffic lights.
