LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A car auction will raise funds for a southern Indiana deputy shot in the line of duty earlier this year.Ā
Orange County Deputy Zac Andry was shot during a traffic stop in southern Indiana.Ā During the stop, investigators with Indiana State Police said Zac Andry suspected criminal activity and asked Austin Schepers, 33, to step out of the car. That's when police saidĀ Schepers shot the deputyĀ four times and sped off.
One of those bullets crossed the front of Zac Andry's brain. Earlier this month, Andry was released from Frazier Rehabilitation Institute in Louisville.Ā
In an effort to raise money for his ongoing care, Freije & Freije Auctioneers will hold a charity car auctionĀ featuring aĀ 1994 Ford Mustang GT convertible.
"Convertible is more than just a rare and historic piece of American motorsports,"Ā Freije & Freije Auctioneers posted. "Includes Elite Marti Report, historical photos, literature, and Carfax report, Bid with purpose. Own a legend. Support a cause."
The auction will be held at French Lick on May 1 and 2. The 1994 Mustang GT that was donated will be auctioned May 2.Ā
Half of the proceeds go to Andry and the other half will go to the Shriners Hospital.Ā
You can visit theĀ Orange County Sheriff's Office Facebook page to make a donation to The Andry Family.Ā
