LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Halloween season is getting a head start in Louisville this weekend with a new event called Creepfest.

It's happening from 10 am. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Caufield's on West Main Street.

There will be more than 40 local vendors, palm and tarot card readings, a costume contest for pets and their humans, and spooky photos with a special guest.

Tracy Caufield joined the WDRB Mornings team on Friday to explain why they're getting a jumpstart on the spooky season.

"The spooky community in town is ready for this season," Caufield said. "So, you know, it's hard for us to do something like this in September or October. So it was just a great way to kick it off and let everybody start to get their stuff ready for Halloween."

A local artist made artwork for the event that will be on posters and t-shirts. The event is free to attend.
