LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Clarksville Community School teachers are getting an early Christmas gift this year.
The school board announced today a new 2-year contract for its educators. The contract includes a $4,000 base pay increase for all of their teachers.
This pay raise brings the starting teacher base pay to more than $50,000 a year.
"Our teachers are the backbone of our educational system, and we are proud to invest in their professional growth and well-being," Superintendent Dr. Tina Bennett said in the Friday news release. "When educators thrive, students benefit."
Along with the pay raise, the board also voted to increase their contribution to employee insurance.
The district said the decision ensures the overall welfare of its teaching staff.
