LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- It was not easy for firefighters in southern Indiana as crews fought to put out a house fire Friday afternoon.
It was just before 2:00 p.m. when neighbors saw the flames and called 911. The man who lives at the home on Kehoe Lane near 10th St. in Jeffersonville was not home.
Neighbors say the homeowner has spent the last 19 years building the home.
Firefighters say the home posed special challenges for those working to put the fire out.
"It was really packed with a lot of different furniture, different construction stuff. So it was a challenge for us with the conditions and the weather," said Eric Hedrick, the chief of the Jeffersonville Fire Department.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but neighbors say the homeowner did have a wood stove.
