LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Crews broke ground on a new fire station in southern Indiana Thursday morning.
The new Tri-Township Fire & Rescue Headquarters Station is being constructed at 601 Hamburg Way in Sellersburg, next to the current station.
Community leaders said the groundbreaking marks a "significant step toward enhancing fire protection, emergency medical services, technical rescue and general public safety."
The fire department said the new space will also provide them with space, resources, and upgraded equipment to enhance response times and "better support the needs of our residents."
Last May, Tri-Township added two new ambulances of their own in an effort to speed up response times.
