CORYDON, Ind. (WDRB) -- Three days after an underground leak disrupted water service for businesses and residents in Corydon, Indiana, crews have located the leak.
According to an update posted on the Corydon Town Hall Facebook page Friday morning, the leak was found along Poolside Drive. It's described as being nine feet deep with a five foot split in it.
Town Manager Bruce Cunningham said the water main break happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday, leaving about 600 people without water. Cunningham said the town was losing 1,200 gallons a minute until the leak was found. The Facebook post said that water "was going straight down into a cave / sinkhole."
Officials called in a leak detection company from Indianapolis to help in the search.
About 75 people were still without water before service was restored. A boil water advisory remains in effect until further notice.
The town lost more than three million gallons of water before the leak was sealed.
