LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Rescuers pulled a man to safety after he fell off a 50-foot cliff in the Red River Gorge area in southeastern Kentucky.
A man left his home Thursday evening, July 17 and went into the woods, according to Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team in a post on its Facebook page.
The man didn't return the next morning, and his family went to search for him. They heard him crying for help below a cliff in the area of Tarr Road in Rogers, about 65 miles southeast of Lexington. Officials said the man fell 50 feet and then continued to tumble down a steep hill and a series of smaller cliffs.
A paramedic rappelled down to access him, and the team lifted the man up by a rope system and basket. He was then carried out of the woods to an awaiting ambulance, and was taken to Clark Regional Hospital in Winchester, Kentucky.
