LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two Kentucky travelers said they were sexually assaulted during a trip to the Bahamas.

After enjoying their first drink on the trip, Amber Shearer and Dongayla Dobson lost consciousness about an hour later.

They believe resort employees sexually assaulted them. The Kentuckians said they tested positive for several drugs when they woke up.

"I said, 'no, I want a rape kit,'" the women said. "There's nothing you can do without a rape kit and they refused a rape kit."

Shearer and Dobson said the police in the Bahamas failed them. They're sharing their story in the hopes of finding justice and protecting others.

The Royal Bahamas Police said Sunday in a press release that two men were arrested for alleged sexual assault of two women.

There is a travel advisory in effect for people going to the Bahamas due to violent crime including armed robberies and sexual assaults in tourist and non-tourist areas.
