LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 26-year-old woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash in the Russell neighborhood on Saturday night, according to Louisville Metro Police.
LMPD spokesperson John Bradley said police responded to a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian at 16th and Jefferson streets around 11:55 p.m. Once police arrived on scene, they found a woman who had been hit by car. LMPD initially said the victim was a juvenile girl.
The woman was taken to University of Louisville Hospital by EMS, but she died there. She hasn't been identified yet.
LMPD said a white sedan, possibly a Mazda, was driving at a high rate of speed and hit the woman, and then fled the scene going south on 16th Street.
LMPD's Traffic Unit is investigating the incident.
