LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- At least two people were shot near a church that was holding a funeral Wednesday afternoon in Louisville's Smoketown neighborhood.
Louisville Metro Police confirmed the shooting was reported about 2:15 p.m. in the 600 block of Lampton Street. Spokesperson Aaron Ellis said the shooting happened outside the Bates Memorial Baptist Church in a parking lot and nearby alley.
"It is disrespectful. It is like nobody has any morals, no value, no respect for human life," Shanika Clayton, who attended the funeral, said. "It is like it is a game, it is not fair."
A neighbor who lives across the street from the church said she heard dozens of gunshots.
"It's terrible," the woman said. "I am scared for my life. I'm scared to take out my trash. I'm scared to walk to the corner store and I just live right there. I'm scared. They need to do something!"

Investigators were notified that a second man who had been shot arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle. The male was also alert and conscious, according to police.
Injuries to both victims are not considered life-threatening. Police do not know the relationship of the victims. The LMPD Non-Fatal Shooting Unit is handling the investigation.
A WDRB crew at the hospital saw a car with a bullet hole with crime scene tape around it, and police were investigating.
Clayton, who said she was the cousin of the woman whose funeral was happening at the time of the shooting, said she left before gunfire erupted.
"... I left halfway through," Clayton said. "I wasn't here for the gun violence, gunfire or whatever. But it doesn't make any sense. You can't even lay your family member to rest that has already died. Then someone else gets shot. It doesn't make any sense."
LMPD said there are no known suspects. It is asking the public for information regarding the case and asks for calls to the anonymous tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673). The Crime Tip Portal can also be used to convey information.
