Suspect in Louisville Texas Roadhouse shooting back in jail on upgraded charges

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — The man arrested for a shooting at a Louisville Texas Roadhouse is back in jail after his charges were upgraded.

Ronald Winter, 24, was arrested Tuesday on first-degree assault charges in the June 11 shooting at the restaurant in Okolona.

Winter was initially charged with second-degree assault, but court records indicate his charges were elevated. He's also facing charges of first-degree robbery, tampering with physical evidence and 10 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

He's accused of shooting a Texas Roadhouse manager during a dispute over an unpaid bill. According to Louisville Metro Police, officers responded around 6:11 p.m. June 11 to the restaurant on a report of a shooting.

Police said a man was shot in the shoulder at the restaurant and taken to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to court documents, when Winter tried to leave the restaurant without paying, a manager grabbed his arm. The employee said that when Winter tried to reach for his waistband, the employee tried to tackle Winter to the ground. That’s when the gun fired.

Winter fled the scene and was found a few hours later near Highway 44 in Shepherdsville.

Days after the shooting, he was released after posting a $50,000 property bond. Now that he's back in jail, his bond was set at $75,000.

Winter is due back in court on Sept. 11.
