LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB/WAVE) — A man charged in connection with a shooting at a Texas Roadhouse in Okolona has been released after posting a $50,000 property bond, according to court records.

Ronald Winter, 24, is charged with second-degree assault. He pleaded not guilty in court Saturday, when a judge initially set his bond at $25,000 cash and denied a request from his attorney to release him on his own recognizance because of the nature of the allegations.

Court records show Winter’s bond was later modified to a $50,000 property bond, which was posted Thursday, allowing his release.

According to Louisville Metro Police Department, officers responded around 6:11 p.m. June 11 to the restaurant on a report of a shooting.

Police said a man was shot in the shoulder at the restaurant and taken to UofL Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to court documents, when Winter tried to leave the restaurant without paying, a manager grabbed his arm.

The employee said that when Winter tried to reach for his waistband, the employee tried to tackle Winter to the ground. That’s when the gun fired.

Winter fled the scene and was found a few hours later near Highway 44 in Shepherdsville.

Police also said Winter had previously left the same Texas Roadhouse without paying earlier this week, though they did not release additional details about that incident.

Texas Roadhouse later said the injured employee was stable.

Winter is expected to next appear in court Monday, June 22, for a preliminary hearing.
