LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man was arrested after two people were shot in Shelbyville on Tuesday night, according to police.
Shelbyville Police Department went to a shooting on Union Street and found a man shot in the head. He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Police identified the suspect as Chivez Johnson, 29, nearby the shooting. Police said a second victim, who had been shot, walked into UofL Hospital Shelbyville Emergency Room.
Johnson told police he was being shot at and returned fire. The victim is Johnson's cousin, according to court documents.
Johnson was charged with assault and tampering with physical evidence. Additional charges could be forthcoming, police said.
All people involved in the shooting have been identified, according to police.
Johnson is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
