LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Jefferson County grand jury indicted seven Louisville men on multiple charges, including engaging in organized crime.

According to Commonwealth's Attorney Gerina Whethers, Jacob Bell, 21; Lawrence Bibbs, 20; Robert Thomas, 21; Thomas Wallace, 20; Reginald Webster, Jr., 23; Malik Birdsong, 20, and Demetrious Wiley, Jr., 21, all were found with stolen cars and guns.

“Gang and group activity creates a nexus of crime in communities: a driver of more and more illegal activity that sweeps up more and more innocent victims over time,” Whethers said in a news release Tuesday. “This is just one of many cases in which we’re taking serious steps to keep gang members off the streets.”

In addition to being charged with engaging in organized crime, the seven men also face various drug and theft charges. Bell, Webster and Wiley were previously convicted of criminal syndication, and were on probation at the time of the events for the new charges.

Hearings on motions to revoke Webster's and Wiley's probation, based on some of the charges in this indictment, were held, and they were removed from probation and sentenced to prison.

According to the release, Bell's hearing to revoke his probation is on Nov. 25. The other men, Bibbs, Thomas, Wallace and Birdsong, are due for a pre-trial conference on Dec. 11.
