LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 36-year-old man was identified Monday as the driver who was found shot dead after a crash on Interstate 264.
William McPheeters died of a gunshot wound on Interstate 264 on Oct. 31, according to a written statement from the Jefferson County Coroner's Office.
A MetroSafe supervisor told WDRB that LMPD responded to a crash in the eastbound lanes of I-264, near Breckenridge Lane, just after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
In an earlier news release, LMPD spokesman John Bradley said the driver of a black Honda lost control, flipped and hit two other vehicles.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered the driver had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
LMPD is still investigating about where or when McPheeters was shot, but Bradley said he was the only occupant in the vehicle.
