LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) ā A 62-year-old man allegedly stabbed to death by his son in southwest Louisville over the weekend was identified Monday.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office, Dana Dubey died just after midnight Sunday, June 21, in the 13900 block of South Blakely Lane.
Police were called to the scene on a report of a person down near the roadway, according to Sgt. Matt Sanders, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department. That's south of Valley Station, near Jefferson Memorial Forest.
Once on scene, police found Dubey with multiple stab wounds and pronounced him dead at the scene.
His son, 36-year-old Christopher Dubey, was arrested just after 6:30 a.m. Sunday in the Pleasure Ridge Park neighborhood after a standoff with LMPD SWAT officers.
According to an arrest citation, detectives learned Dana Dubey told his brother that he was going to meet with his son because he needed to be calmed down.Ā
Court documents state detectives also learned Dana Dubey had arrived to the 13900 block of Blakely Lane at 11:40 p.m., just 18 minutes before the stabbing was reported. According to police, he only stayed at the residence for a few minutes before leaving. It was the last time he was seen alive.
Sanders said LMPD's Homicide Unit took over the investigation and foundĀ Dana Dubey's vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 1700 block of Bonnyville Boulevard in Pleasure Ridge Park. The vehicle was running, police said, and had "large amounts of blood" inside.Ā
Police then focused their investigation on an apartment with blood on the door, where Christopher Dubey had barricaded himself inside. According to court documents, the residence was the known address of Dubey's mother.
After "several hours of back and forth," LMPD's Swat Unit deployed a chemical agent and ChristopherĀ Dubey surrendered to police, Sanders said. Police claimed while ChristopherĀ Dubey was being detained, he had blood on his hands.
The citation states a knife with the suspect's blood and clothing items with "a large amount of suspected blood" were found inside the apartment. Police said ChristopherĀ Dubey "made several utterances that indicated he was involved in a stabbing."
ChristopherĀ Dubey was arrested just after 6:30 a.m.Ā Sunday and charged with murder-domestic violence.
According to court documents, an emergency protective order was filed againstĀ ChristopherĀ Dubey on May 25. The relationship between him and the person who filed the EPO is unknown at this time.
In court for his arraignment Monday morning, Christopher Dubey pleaded not guilty and Judge Kristina Garvey set his bond at $750,000 cash. His next court appearance was scheduled for June 30.Ā
