LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Drug Enforcement Administration and police in Kentucky targeted a Mexican cartel, seizing more than $2 million worth of cocaine.
The Nicholasville Police Department posted on social media Tuesday about the seizure. The department said in the post they arrested drug couriers linked to a cartel overnight in the area of Man o' War Boulevard and Boston Road in Lexington.
Police also served a search warrant at the Hampton Inn on East Brannon Road in Nicholasville. Police seized nearly 100 pounds of cocaine, $15,000 and a gun.
The operation was the result of months of surveillance and intelligence gathering, police said.Â
Four unidentified suspects now face federal charges, and the case remains ongoing.
