LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A driver was arrested in Carroll County after a car crash Wednesday killed a passenger.

Kentucky State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on West Jay Louden Road in Carrollton.

According to a release, 33-year-old Luis Antonio Orduno of Mexico was driving a black 2014 Jeep Cherokee when he allegedly ran off the right side the road, slid sideways and running into a nearby building.

One passenger, identified as 31-year-old Luis F. Mayoral Moguel of Glencoe, Kentucky, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Orduno was taken to UofL Hospital to treat his injuries. He was then transported to the Carroll County Detention Center where he remains in custody.

He faces preliminary charges of vehicular homicide, DUI, no operator’s license, no insurance and first-degree criminal mischief.

Mayoral Moguel was transported to the medical examiner in Louisville, where autopsy and toxicology results are pending.

The crash is still under investigation.
