LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville police say a Florida man staying at a local Airbnb shot at officers responding to a trouble report at the Germantown home.Â
Tombe Juma-Kose Thomas is charged with attempted murder of a police officer.Â
It happened around 1:30 p.m. Dec. 28, while Thomas was in town visiting family for the holidays, according to court documents. Thomas was staying at the Airbnb on Reutlinger Avenue with his girlfriend.Â
That's when police said Thomas became agitated and locked himself in a bathroom with a gun. He told officers he believed someone else was inside the house in a plot set up by his girlfriend.
Louisville Metro Police officers said they knocked on the window of the bathroom and announced themselves as police officers. That's when Thomas allegedly "fired a single gunshot through the window in the direction of two LMPD officers standing nearby," according to court documents.Â
Police said Thomas called it a "a warning shot." No officers were injured, but the arrest report states "the projectile fired was near the height of the officers' heads and placed them in imminent danger of death or serious physical injury."Â
The officers were not hurt, and Thomas was taken into custody without further incident around 2:15 p.m.Â
A judge set a cash bond of $250,000 for Thomas during his court appearance on Monday. His next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 7. Â
