LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A former Trimble County, Kentucky sheriff pleaded guilty to harassment.
Charles Kelton was initially charged with sexual abuse but that was amended down to harassment.
Kelton was sentenced to 45 days in jail but won’t serve that time if he complies with the terms of the deal for two years.
Those terms include not breaking the law again and not contacting the victim.
On Feb. 21, 2025, while on duty and in his sheriff's uniform, Kelton admitted to grabbing a woman's hips and pulling her against him after she "physically and verbally" rejected him while in her office at the Trimble County Attorney's Office, his arrest warrant said.
Kelton retired as Trimble County Sheriff on July 31, 2025.
