LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A judge in Clark County, Indiana, has ordered a man charged with murdering his 36-year-old wife inside their Jeffersonville home last week to remain in jail with no bond.

Jeffersonville Police and Indiana State Police arrested Taylor Meyer in the late evening hours of Feb. 14 at the home the couple shared in the 6600 block of Westwood Drive after responding to a call from a friend of the victim reporting that she was in danger, according to court documents.

The caller told Clark County dispatchers the call came from the victim's phone, and he could hear her screaming for help, so he drove to the home, arriving about the same time as police. While speaking with officers at the scene, he received a picture sent from the victim's phone showing the victim unconscious on the floor.

Meyer was taken into custody when he opened the garage door of the home as officers were attempting to enter through the front door. He resisted arrest and had to be subdued with physical force.

During questioning, Meyer told investigators he had planned a special Valentine's evening with his wife, but became upset when she "seemed distant" and unappreciative. He told police he was also upset because he had received a picture of his wife in January "holding hands" with another man -- a co-worker of the victim -- at a casino, which had put a strain on his marriage.

Meyer became even more upset when his wife left the home for about 20 minutes, and believed she was going to see her co-worker, whom he referred to as her boyfriend. When she returned, the two struggled as he tried to take her phone, but she refused to give it to him.

Meyer said his wife punched him at one point, but he pinned her down and began searching through her phone. That's when police said he called the woman's co-worker and told him "It's your ... fault. You want to ruin my marriage and tear my family apart."

Meyer said he hit the victim with a wine bottle and choked her until she lost consciousness before getting a knife from the kitchen. That's when he allegedly stabbed her approximately 40 times, according to the Probable Cause Affidavit.

Police said Meyer admitted to sending pictures of the victim's body to a family group text that included all of her siblings.

Meyer told investigators he loved his wife "beyond belief" and wanted to work things out.

The couple's three young children were inside the home when the incident occurred.

Meyer was arraigned in Clark County on Feb. 18. Judge Nicholas Karaffa entered a not guilty plea on his behalf and appointed a public defender.

He is due back in court on March 18, and is scheduled to stand trial on July 15.
