LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder after an intimate partner homicide in southern Indiana Friday, according to police.

Jeffersonville Police responded to a domestic disturbance in the 6600 block of Westwood Drive Friday evening. Police said the incident escalated quickly, which required the "full force" of the department's resources and the assistance of Indiana State Police.

According to police, officers knocked on the front door, but didn't hear any responses. Police said a person who knew the people in the home arrived on scene and shared information that made it an "emergency rescue effort."

Police breached the front door in an attempt to reach the people inside. As police entered the home, the garage door opened.

Taylor Meyer stepped out of the garage, according to police. Police said Meyer was non-compliant and aggressively engaged officers.

"Given the threat he posed, officers utilized control techniques to bring Meyer into custody as quickly as possible," Jeffersonville Police Det. Capt. Samuel Moss said in a news release.

Police found three children, all under the ages of five years old inside the home. Indiana Department of Child Services responded to the scene to ensure the safety and well-being of the children, according to police.

Meyer's 36-year-old wife was found dead inside the home. Meyer was taken into custody and charged with murder.
