LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — A Seymour, Indiana, man pleaded guilty Thursday to a felony charge of fleeing the scene of a deadly accident.

Omar Donald, 55, is accused of hitting and killing 87-year-old Ronald Jarvis in November 2024 and fleeing the scene.

The Seymour Police Department said officers responded on a hit-and-run in the 200 block of South Chestnut Street just after 7 a.m. Nov. 2, 2024, and found Jarvis unresponsive in the roadway. Witnesses told officers the vehicle that hit him fled.

Jarvis was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Police found Donald's vehicle in the area later that evening and detained him. 

Donald was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, driving while suspended, dealing in methamphetamine within 500 feet of a school, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

His sentencing for the fleeing charge is scheduled for May 26 in Jackson Circuit Court. His other charges are still pending.
