LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An 87-year-old man died Nov. 2 after a hit-and-run in Seymour, Indiana.
The Seymour Police Department said officers responded on a hit-and-run in the 200 block of South Chestnut Street just after 7 a.m. and found 87-year-old Ronald Jarvis unresponsive in the roadway. Witnesses told officers the vehicle that hit him fled.
Jarvis was taken to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Police found the suspect vehicle in the area later that evening and detained the suspected driver, who refused to cooperate.
Police said Jarvis died three days later from his injuries. After obtaining a search warrant, police searched the suspect's apartment and found methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
Omar Donald, 54, was arrested and initially charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, driving while suspended, dealing in methamphetamine within 500 feet of a school, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was taken to the Jackson County Jail.
