LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- An Indiana man wanted for murder in Georgia was killed Saturday when he crashed the victim's vehicle during a police chase in Kentucky.

Police said the suspect — identified Sunday as Ryan Ebler, 30, of Martinsville, Indiana — was wanted for reportedly killing his girlfriend Saturday at a home in Georgia and setting the house on fire, LEX18 News reported.

The victim's vehicle was stolen from the scene and reported to a national database. It was later spotted by police on Interstate 75 near Berea. Troopers and officers from the Berea Police Department initiated a traffic stop, but the vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued.

KSP said the pursuit continued north on I-75 and reached speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. It continued onto Interstate 64 in Franklin County, where KSP said Ebler lost control near Frankfort, hitting a semitruck going in the opposite direction.

Ebler died at the scene.

According to the Dalton Police Department in Georgia, firefighters found a woman dead in a burning home on Grimes Street just before 6 a.m. Saturday. "Due to the suspicious nature of the death," police were called to investigate.

While police investigators were at the scene, a woman called to report that her brother had confessed to killing his girlfriend at the home on Grimes Street, and requested a welfare check on him. At that point, police had already identified him as a person of interest in the case. Because the victim's vehicle was missing from the scene, police entered the license plate into a national database as stolen.

Around 9:30 a.m. Saturday, police were notified by KSP that they found the vehicle and a chase ensued, ending in a crash that killed the driver.

The fatal crash, fire and homicide are still being investigated. The woman found dead in the Georgia home has not yet been identified.
