LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police is investigating after a person died days after being found unresponsive on Dixie Highway. 

LMPD said in a news release Monday that the adult was found in the roadway at Dixie Highway and Valley Station Road on Monday, Jan. 5, just before midnight. 

The person was taken to UofL Health Hospital in downtown. LMPD was notified Sunday, Jan. 11, that the person had died. 

The department's Traffic Unit reclassified the incident as a fatal hit-and-run.  

Police said they don't have information on the make or model of the vehicle involved, but investigators will be looking for the driver.
