LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 25-year-old man was arrested in connection to a shooting Monday at an apartment complex in Louisville's Southside neighborhood.

Louisville Metro Police officers charged Caleb Elder with first-degree assault. The shooting happened just before 5 p.m. Jan. 7 at East Kingston Avenue and Teresa Place. Officers arrived to find a victim shot in the leg. He was transported to UofL Hospital and is expected to survive. 

According to Elder's arrest citation, he and the victim got into a fight inside a car when Elder opened fire. The gunshot broke the victim's femur, police said. 

During the police investigation, detectives tracked down Elder's car and found the victim's wallet inside.

Elder was arrested Wednesday and pleaded not guilty in court. A judge set his bond at $50,000.
