LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Kentucky State Police are investigating after a man died following a police chase that ended in a crash in Franklin County.
KSP Post 7 troopers in Richmond were dispatched Saturday morning to locate a homicide suspect from Georgia, KSP said in a release. KSP along with officers from the Berea Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on the suspected vehicle, a grey Honda Civic. The car didn't stop, leading police on a chase on Interstate 75 North, reaching speeds of more than 100 mph.
Police caught up to the suspect on Interstate 64 West in Franklin County, and made many attempts to stop the car using tire deflation devices. The suspect lost control of his car, crossed the median, and hit a commercial vehicle.
Police said the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured.
