LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — Louisville police are searching for suspects after a shooting that injured two minors outside a Pleasure Ridge Park (PRP) High School football game on Sunday night.

The shooting took place around 8 p.m. during a rescheduled game between PRP and Male High School. Witnesses say fear and confusion swept through the area as gunshots rang out, prompting people to scream and run in panic.

Residents living across the street from PRP High School reported hearing the gunfire and seeing people fleeing the scene. Eugene Tingle, who lives nearby, described the chaotic moments that followed.

"They came from everywhere," Tingle said. "Three ambulances. I'm thinking, 'Oh my God, how many are hurt?'"

Tingle, who was just a few hundred yards away, said he not only heard the gunshots but also saw them.

"I'm watching it all happening right there, but it's so dark all I can see is the muzzle flashes, and it goes on for like 30 seconds," Tingle recalled.

The shooting forced the game to end with just two minutes remaining, as players, coaches, fans, students, and parents scrambled for safety. JCPS police officers, already on the scene to help with crowd control, quickly responded, followed by dozens of first responders who swarmed the area.

According to police, one juvenile boy was found at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to UofL Hospital in downtown Louisville and was last reported in critical condition. Another juvenile victim showed up at UofL Health - Mary and Elizabeth Hospital with a gunshot wound but is expected to recover.

"It's unbelievable that only two people were injured," Tingle said. "It's just unreal to me."

Authorities believe the suspects fled through a nearby residential area and are asking residents to review their home surveillance footage for any potential evidence. Many locals expressed shock over the incident.

"Never. Ever. First time ever," Tingle said, adding that he hopes it will be the last. "I mean, this has gotta stop. Unbelievable."

Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) reported that many fans hid under the stands, and players were escorted to locker rooms as the game was suspended. Spectators were ordered to leave the area once Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) secured the scene.

Anyone with information about the shooting is encouraged to contact the LMPD tip line at 502-574-LMPD (5673). Callers can remain anonymous.
