LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- LG&E and KU are warning customers to be aware of scammers coming to homes.
The utilities company has received numerous calls from customers reporting door-to-door solar installers who claim to work for LG&E. The scammers use high-pressure sales tactics like promising free solar panels or free energy is the person signs up.
According to a news release Monday, LG&E and KU do not market or sell residential rooftop solar panels and aren't affiliated with any residential solar installers. LG&E and KU said it will never threaten to cut off service if an immediate payment isn't made, make a live or automated call to demand payment or send someone to a home asking for payment.
