LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man was arrested Tuesday morning after police say he sold $149,000 worth of dumpsters on eBay, but failed to deliver them.
According to an arrest warrant, the sales took place between Dec. 1, 2017Â and Dec. 31, 2017.
Police say 29-year-old Jorge Zayas-Montejo advertised that he was selling dumpsters on eBay, using the name of a business, Blue Jay Fabrications.
During the aforementioned time period, police say he received a total of $149,500 from three victims. The money came in the form of wire transfers to Zayas-Montejo's account.
Zayas-Montejo accepted the payments, but never delivered the dumpsters, according to the arrest warrant. Police say the victims tried to contact him by phone, letter and personal meeting, but he would not respond.
A warrant was issued for his arrest on March 12. He was taken into custody on May 29.
Zayas-Montejo has been charged with theft by deception. He is currently being held at Louisville Metro Corrections.
