LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Police have made an arrest in a string of vehicle thefts at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport.
Even though the airport's parking lot is well-lit and patrolled by security, thieves have been able to get Dodge vehicles off the lot.
"I called the airport police and they were helpful but my car was gone," Todd Turner said.
Turner, from Corydon, Indiana, said his 2016 Dodge Charger was stolen and stripped for parts from the airport parking garage while he was on a business trip.
"Don't park a good car at the airport, you can't take the chance," Turner said.
The airport said seven Dodge vehicles have been reported stolen from the parking garage since the end of December 2023.
On Wednesday, a Louisville man was arraigned after allegedly stealing a car from the airport.
Omarion Tutt is accused of stealing a 2021 Dodge Challenger worth $50,000. Police at the Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport said surveillance video from Jan. 19 shows a person breaking into the car at the airport and stealing it.
Police found the car and said the investigation led police to Tutt, who admitted to being involved along with two others. He was arrested in Clark County, Indiana.
According to court documents, Tutt planned to resell parts of the car online. The judge entered a not guilty plea for him this morning in court. His bond was reduced to $10,000 full cash.
An airport spokesperson said the parking facilities are under 24-hour surveillance as well as increased routine patrol by law enforcement.
Airport officials suggests travelers lock their cars and remove spare keys and valuables, along with use a steering wheel lock or tracking system.
