LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A man is charged with killing a woman and then shooting at Louisville officers Sunday afternoon in the city's west end.
Joshua Miller, 36, was taken into custody early Monday morning. The incident started in the 1300 block of Cypress Street around 1 p.m. Sunday.
LMPD officers responded to the area after reports of a shooting and found a woman who had been shot several times.
LMPD Chief Paul Humphrey said police identified the suspect and canvassed the area of the shooting. They later found Miller in an alley near where the shooting happened around 3 p.m.
When officers tried to approach Miller, he fired at officers. Officers returned fire during a short foot pursuit, according to Humphrey, and Miller was shot at least one time.
He was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Humphrey said there is body camera footage from the shooting, which will be released in 10 business days. LMPD's Public Integrity Unit will investigate the shooting.
No police officers or other citizens were injured in the shooting, according to Humphrey.
