LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A 67-year-old man was arrested after a shooting in the Shawnee neighborhood Saturday night, according to Louisville Metro Police.
LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said police responded to a shooting in the 600 block of Lindell Avenue around 8:04 p.m. When police arrived on scene, they found a man who had been shot.
Ellis said the man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives are working to find out what led up to the shooting and possible motives.
James Schooler Jr. was arrested and charged with assault, according to police.
According to court documents, Schooler was returning home and walking towards his front door in his driveway. Police said the victim told Schooler "I'm going to end you" and had his hands near his waistband.
Schooler then pulled out a gun and shot the man. Court documents said Schooler never saw the man with a weapon and no weapon was recovered from the man who was shot.
Court documents said Schooler told police he had never been threatened by the man he shot.
LMPD's Non-Fatal Shooting Unit will be handling the investigation.
