LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Louisville Metro Police officers arrested a man accused of chasing and hitting a van with three young girls inside during a "road rage" incident Wednesday morning.
According to the arrest citation, it happened around 9:30 a.m. Feb. 26. That's when 41-year-old Graham Bain allegedly "brake checked" a Honda Odyssey van after turning left in front of it near Taylor Boulevard and Beecher Street. The van's driver quickly switched to the right lane and re-entered the left lane.
Bain then passed the van in the right lane and attempted to cut it off at the traffic light at Taylor Boulevard and Interstate 264. Bain continued to chase the van as it picked up speed, attempting to cut it off several times. During the chase, police said Bain hit the van with his vehicle multiple times.
The driver of the van then fired one shot toward Bain's vehicle because he was "in fear for his passengers' lives," according to the arrest slip.
The van then stopped on a side street and headed back to Taylor Boulevard, with Bain still chasing it. The van was heavily damaged and had flat tires when it came to a stop between Henry Avenue and Taylor Boulevard. Police said Bain's vehicle was "then seen, at a high rate of speed, hitting the Honda Odyssey on the driver's side."
That's when the van's driver pointed his gun at Bain and ordered him to stop. He told police he fired several shots when it appeared Bain was trying to put the car back into gear.
"The subject was hit in the lower right abdomen, then continued to reverse and hit the Honda Odyssey again and again, almost striking the driver," according to the arrest report.
Police said the Honda Odyssey was equipped with an in-car camera that recorded the incident.
Bain was arrested at the scene. He's now facing four counts of wanton endangerment.
