LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- The Kentucky Office of Attorney General has arrested a New Albany man accused of planning to meet a girl under the age of 16 for sex.
According to an arrest report, 60-year-old Dale Thomas Hammond was taken into custody Thursday evening. Authorities say he used the Internet to communicate with someone he thought was a girl under the age of 16, but who was really an undercover investigator.
Hammond allegedly made arrangements with the investigator to meet for the purpose of engaging in sexual contact. Authorities say he traveled from his home in New Albany to a location in Kentucky, planning to meet the fictitious juvenile and bring her to his Indiana home.
When he arrived, he was arrested and charged with engaging in the prohibited use of an electronic communications system to procure a minor or peace officer for sex offenses.
