LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A person is in critical condition after a shooting near a restaurant on New Cut Road Sunday morning, according to Louisville Metro Police.
LMPD spokesperson Aaron Ellis said police responded to a shooting in the 5500 block of New Cut Road. When police arrived on scene at the restaurant, they found a female with a gunshot wound.
Police said the shooting happened outside of the business.
The victim was taken to University of Louisville Hospital with what is believed to be critical and life-threatening injuries, according to Ellis.
LMPD's Homicide Unit is handling the investigation. Police don't know if the victim was an employee or patron of the restaurant.
Ellis said police are working to learn what led up to the shooting and a possible motive.
Police said all parties are accounted for and LMPD's Homicide Unit will work with the Commonwealth Attorney's Office to determine if any charges are warranted.
