CALLOWAY COUNTY, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police have arrested a family member in connection with a quadruple homicide that happened in Calloway County.

According to a Kentucky State Police news release, 21-year-old Pascasio Arellano, of Mayfield, Kentucky, was arrested Monday afternoon.

The victims were discovered after a fire, which happened last Tuesday at a home near Murray, Kentucky.

Two of the victims were identified as 29-year-old Bulmaro Arellano and 24-year-old Marisol Hernandez. Officials say the other two victims were a 5-year-old boy and an 18-month-old girl.

Officials say autopsy results revealed Bulmaro Arellano and Hernandez died from gunshot wounds. Police say it is believed the two children died due to smoke inhalation.

Authorities say detectives spoke with Arellano on Saturday. Police noticed Arellano was injured and took him to a hospital to be treated.

Police say Arellano sustained the injuries during the crimes.

He was taken into police custody after he was released from the hospital.

Arellano is charged with four counts of murder, arson, burglary and tampering with physical evidence.

He is being held at the Calloway County Jail.
