LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Kentucky State Police in Mayfield have positively identified humans remains that were found almost 25 years ago.
Two fishermen found the remains in Lake Barkley, in Lyon County, on May 6, 1999. The body was found wrapped in heavy tire chains and anchored with a hydraulic jack, KSP said.
Police weren't able to identify the remains decades ago, but in 2016 the body was exhumed in hopes of being identified. DNA technology wasn't able to identify the victim, and the remains were entered into the National Missing and Unidentified Person System.
Earlier this year, KSP partnered with Othram Inc., a private forensic lab, for advanced genealogy DNA testing. The tests revealed that the remains were Roger Dale Parham.
According to KSP, Parham was living in Fort Smith, Arkansas in 1999. He was awaiting trial on various criminal charges.
Parham disappeared in March 1999 and it was thought he was fleeing prosecution. His disappearance was a mystery.
Anyone who has information regarding the death of Parham is urged to call Kentucky State Police Post 1 - Mayfield at (270)-856-3721. Tips can also be provided by accessing the Kentucky State Police website by clicking here.
