LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A southern Indiana woman is behind bars accused of stealing cash and jewelry from a home she was hired to clean.
In a social media post, the Scott County Sheriff's Office said Rachelle R. Smith of Scottsburg faces theft and drug charges.
The investigation started after homeowners in Scott County said they hired a cleaning company in April and later discovered cash and jewelry missing from their home.
After interviewing the homeowners, a deputy got a search warrant for Smith's home. The deputy found the alleged stolen jewelry and also drugs.
The Sheriff's office said it believes Smith also stole from other homes that she was hired to clean. Additional charges are possible.
