LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Valley Station woman has been charged after she allegedly made false statements to receive benefits from the state of Kentucky.Â
Julia Poteet, 45, received SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program) and Medicaid benefits between June 1, 2013, and May 31, 2018, that she was not entitled to, according to court documents.Â
Specifically, Poteet is charged with making false statements by failing to correctly report her household circumstances when applying for benefits, resulting in a SNAP overpayment of $34,147.00 and a Medicaid overpayment of $24,783.62.
The state's total loss is estimated at $58,930.62.
Poteet's next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 5.Â
