Woman hospitalized after being shot in St. Matthews Friday afternoon, police say

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — St. Matthews Police are investigating after a woman was shot in the parking lot of a shopping center on Breckenridge Lane Friday afternoon.

Officers responded to the parking lot of Books-A-Million in the 900 block of Breckenridge Lane around 5:30 p.m. for an altercation between a man and a woman, according to St. Matthews Police Chief Barry Wilkerson

Once on scene, police found the woman had been shot by the man. She was transported to UofL Hospital and was listed as stable, Wilkerson said.

Wilkerson said the man is in custody, and all parties involved have been accounted for. Wilkerson said police are still investigating the relationship between the man and woman, but it is believed to have been "an isolated incident" and there is no threat to the public.
