LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Kentucky woman returned home to find the man accused of killing a Kentucky sheriff's deputy dead inside her trailer.
Russell County Deputy and former LMPD officer Josh Phipps was shot by a suspect Monday evening at a mobile home park in Russell Springs in South Central Kentucky. Phipps was taken to the hospital where he died.
The suspect was also killed in the exchange of gunfire, and his body remained inside Rita Campbell's mobile home until she discovered it unexpectedly when she returned home.
She described it as coming home to a "disaster," with blood, bullet holes and broken glass.
"They apparently got him when he hit the hall, and the bedroom because that's mainly where most of the blood is," Campbell said.
The suspect's name has not yet been released.
Kentucky State Police continues to investigate.
